Part II: The Meeting…

 

Struggling past the traffic,

He arrived after an hour.

The ordinarily calm place was bustling with chaos.

Red and green replaced the mundane white.

He was now immune to the peculiar scent.

She was in 502.

He hurriedly walked through the alley.

A petite but beautiful pine tree nestled against the wall.

She lay there still. Not a slight flicker.

The tubings and needles drained her entirely.

Yet she seemed splendid.

 Like she looked when he first saw her.

Beneath the white linen, she slept in content.

He poured some water in the vase and placed the lilies.

The cake happily seated next to her infusion drugs.

Holding her hand in his, he sat beside her…..
